Dr. Avi Trope

After graduating from Queens College with a BA in science, Dr. Trope completed his DO degree at the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine as well as an internship and residency at St. Barnabas Hospital, Bronx, NY. Dr. Trope served as the Resident Representative Chair and then the Vice President of the National Residents Chapter for the American College of Osteopathic Emergency Physicians (ACOEP). In his final year, as Chief Resident, Dr. Trope earned two teaching awards-Resident of the Year (chosen by the faculty) and Teaching Resident of the Year (chosen by the residents).

After graduation, Dr. Trope served as an Emergency Room attending at North Shore University Hospital at Plainview on Long Island and as an attending ER/Urgi-Care physician for the Prison Health system on Rikers Island. From 2005 to 2007, Dr. Trope ran the internship program at North Shore University Hospital at Plainview. He is currently the Assistant Director of the Emergency Department at New Island Hospital on Long Island.

Following in his father's and mother's footsteps, Dr. Trope lectures at the Toro Medical School. Presented with the concept of Akeso, he immediately recognized the value of this tool to medical students and offered to help during its development.
